Those who regularly come in and out of Rock Creek Park via Blagden Avenue in Crestwood may have been surprised to receive $100 tickets from a stop sign camera at Blagden & Allison St. NW. The camera has been operational for several years, from what neighbors can remember, but starting around January, it started spitting out tickets at a crazy rate — and for driving and stopping behavior no reasonable person would consider unsafe. “The Fourth District is currently investigating an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) that occurred at approximately 11:45 pm in the 4000 block of Arkansas Avenue, NW. The victim reported he was sitting in his vehicle at the listed location when two suspects approached his vehicle. One of the suspects attempted to open the car door, but was unable to open the door. When the suspects were unable to gain entry to the victim’s vehicle, one of the suspects produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds at the rear window of the victim’s vehicle. (more…)

For the past month, neighbors in Crestwood have not had regular mail (missing 2-3 nights a week). Mail has been found in large dumps in the woods. Are thieves looking for stimulus checks? Is this a disgruntled worker? No one knows, as the postal inspector, is not responding to emails.

Sad state of affairs indeed.”

“Join Rock Creek Conservancy and the Crestwood Citizens Association on Sunday, July 14, 2019, for a one-of-a-kind party at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre.

The historic Carter Barron Amphitheatre is closed for repairs. However, this summer, party-goers will have the opportunity to step inside the gates of this important DC landmark. This event will celebrate the Crestwood neighborhood’s300th birthday and raise funds for Rock Creek Conservancy’s partnership with Rock Creek Park, including the organization’s community engagement efforts around the upcoming Carter Barron Amphitheatre revitalization.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the legacy of the amphitheatre through games, crafts, and expert-led hikes while enjoying performances and music by local artists, including FAME Jazz band and Folger Shakespeare Theater, in the amphitheatre’s promenade. (more…)
