“Dear PoPville,

My entire apartment shook last night with a really loud BOOM at 3 am. Woke me up scared out of my mind. I know this happened earlier in the year too. I live right by Cardozo. Anyone else feel it?”

It had been 28 days since our last report of loud booms. Anyone else hear it last night?

Thanks to Anthony for sending the good word: “I hope to inform the Columbia Heights community that seeing clients entering the new restaurant on 11th St called Ossobuco has opened.”

Their website is still being worked on but presumably we’ll be able to see their menu here. Anyone take an early taste?

Update: Thanks to Matt for sending a PDF of the menu – Ossobuco Menu (PDF)

Ed. Note: This is the former Maple space (and Columbia Heights Coffee back in the day.)

A reader reports around 3:25pm:

“There was a loud screech from brakes and then a crash. A white sedan hit at least two other vehicles. When I got to my window, I saw the driver get out and flee the scene. Cops on scene and road closed directly in front of DC USA mall.” (more…)

Around 10:30pm in Columbia Heights was definitely fireworks.

And another round later: “Special thanks to the person who just blasted fireworks directly next to my bedroom window at 2am in Columbia Heights”

And in a new one that I’ll add to the list of options comes this report from Alan Henney at 2:20am:

“The EXPLOSIONS heard about 20 minutes ago in University Heights are tires bursting on a carjacked SUV that was just torched at 7th St and Randolph St NE-DC.”
