A reader reports:

“I stopped by Vietnamese Chelsea at Park Rd and 14th St in Columbia Heights this weekend. They have a 20% off promotion to celebrate their grand opening. The fried spring rolls were fatter than Pho 14 and the pho beef broth was more gingery. Everything was very good. Really nice staff, too. I recommend giving it a try.”

Thanks to a reader for passing on this fundraiser for El Rinconcito II:

“Hey friends of el Rinconcito!

Last week, my friend Claudia’s restaurant, el Rinconcito on Park Rd, caught fire. The damage was extensive and the insurance only covers part of the cost.

Right now, they’re closed for business while they work on repairs. That sucks – every day they are closed is a day without pupusas!! So we are calling on all of you, pupusa lovers, to help us get them back up and running as soon as possible! The neighborhood isn’t the same without them.

If you come by with proof of a donation of $10 or more in the first week they re-open, you get a free pupusa!”
