Executive Chef of Rosario and Smoke & Barrel in Adams Morgan, Logan McGear, had also become executive chef of Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights and Brookland Pint in Edgewood. Kidding, kidding – it’s proper Brookland.

McGear notes his role at “Rosario and Smoke & Barrel will remain the same as I take on the roll of Executive Chef at all 4 restaurants.” Looking forward to seeing some menu changes coming to the Pints.

OK a couple weeks ago I mentioned I was sitting on some sweet Wawa scuttlebutt when we spoke about the possibility of a Wawa taking over the old Zoup space downtown. As I said at that time, I was only giving that scuttlebutt a 50/50 chance. However, this one is rock solid. Ed. Note: There is always a +/- 3% chance of something happening last minute. But I feel very good about this one. Updates and details on location when it’s locked in 100%.

Vincent reports:

“I have a follow up for Bun DC. It is in fact the same ownership from Pho Viet. I bumped into the owner of Pho Viet inspecting the restaurant from outside and she told me that it is actually her mother’s restaurant, but she will also be a cook. Regardless, the Pho Viet family will have their handprints all over this. She said they are ready to go and could easily open in a week, but have been waiting on DC to inspect the place for months. As a huge Pho Viet fan, DC needs to hurry up and get on this!”

Amen. STAY TUNED.

From MPD:

“On February 22, 2018 at approximately 12:43 A.M. in the 3600 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW, an MPD Mountain Bike unit observed an adult male suspect run up behind an adult male victim and punch him in the back of the head, causing him to fall. The suspect stated, “give me your wallet” and then removed a wallet from the victim’s pocket. Our MPD mountain bike unit quickly approached and grabbed the suspect and took him to the ground to detain him, immediately placing him under arrest. The victim sustained a minor cut to his lip and was treated on the scene by medics. The victim’s property was recovered.

Great job on the part of the mountain bike officer for actively patrolling on the beat and removing a violent criminal from the streets, thereby enhancing public safety.”

“Dear PoPville,

This scooter appeared in our alley about a month ago. It has a lock, but none of the neighbors know anything about it. The city has refused to remove it saying it doesn’t meet their standards for an abandoned vehicle.

What’s our next move here?”
