“Washington National Cathedral will toll its bells 300 times on Tuesday, Dec. 15 starting at 5 p.m. ET, in memory of the 300,000 Americans who have died of COVID-19.

The Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, the Cathedral’s dean, also released this statement:

“We have reached the point in America where the death toll from COVID-19 for just one day was the equivalent of 16 fully loaded 737 jets falling from the sky. (more…)

“This is a reminder that today, Nov. 3 and tomorrow, Nov. 4, Washington National Cathedral will temporarily reopen to the public for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March. Members of the public are free to come to the Cathedral to pray for the election and the country.

The Cathedral will hold a “Service of Healing, Unity and Hope” after the election on Wednesday at 12 noon ET, which will be live-streamed.

We will be exercising strict social distancing and contact-tracing protocols. After the 4th, the Cathedral will be closed again, pending further developments in the pandemic.”
