TH sends this sad sight from Eastern Market.

A reader reported around 10:45pm:
“MPD officer I spoke with said there was a carjacking on H St that resulted in a police pursuit and ended with a crash in the 600 block of NC Ave. The suspect then got out, was pursued on foot and apprehended in the general vicinity of Bullfrog Bagels (per the pic… sorry I couldn’t get closer). All roads in the triangle between C, NC and 7th are taped off at the moment and detectives are wandering around Eastern Market looking for something.”
From MPD:
“On October 7, 2019, and shortly after 9:30 pm, 1D units received a call for a carjacking in front of 721 H St, NE. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Noticed that the dome lights are off so far tonight [Saturday] at the Capitol. I’ve seen this happen once before a few years ago, but not sure why. Any ideas? Capitol Hill power outage? Light cleaning since it’s recess?”

From a press release:
“We are pleased to announce that critically-acclaimed chef Kevin Tien’s new restaurant, Emilie’s, is set to open on October 10, 2019.
“We’re really excited to bring something new to Capitol Hill, where Chef Kevin Tien and his team may share their passion and talent with the community on a larger scale,” said co-owner Sam Shoja.
The menu at Emilie’s will focus on seasonally-inspired and local ingredients and will feature large, family-style plates and smaller a la carte menu choices. In addition, diners may select from composed plates that will circulate the room on carts. (more…)

Been getting tons of messages over the weekend and this one pretty much sums it up:
“Power went out in Capitol Hill for the fourth time in a week. What’s going on??”
Last message I saw from AlertDC said: “PEPCO crews continue to work on restoring power to the affected customers in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The estimated restoration time is 9AM.”

Nice little scoop from The Atlantic Festival:
“After our forthcoming Call Your Mother Georgetown location, we’ll open another in Capitol Hill, says Andrew Dana at #TheAtlanticFest. I haven’t told anyone, so you heard it here first.”
STAY TUNED.

Trickling Springs D.C. locations are in Union Market at 1309 5th Street, NE and across from Eastern Market – pictured above. Unclear when their exact last days open will be. The Eastern Market location only opened last summer.
Thanks to all who sent the sad news from The Record Herald:
“”We regret to announce that effective Sept. 27, 2019, Trickling Springs Creamery will be shutting down plant operations,” said Joe Miller, director of sales and marketing for Trickling Springs, which sells and produces dairy products.” (more…)

From the Neighborhood Restaurant Group:
“I wanted to let you know we’ve partnered with Matt Adler to develop the 65-seat stand-alone restaurant that will open adjacent to The Roost. Caruso’s Grocery will be modeled after the classic, Italian-American “red sauce” joint; it’s very important to Matt and us as a team to not reinvent the wheel with this concept, but instead to focus on making the best possible versions of classic Italian-American dishes.
