This is a phenomenal sculpture from Lincoln Park. I had seen the Lincoln sculpture before but don’t ever remember seeing this one. You can find some background on Mary McLeod Bethune here.

My final Capitol Hill submission – an old school rowhouse. Classic. I particularly dig the touch up top.

Another contrast from Capitol Hill – Do you prefer the doorway set back or the doorway sticking out?

I thought the windows on this house in Capitol Hill were pretty wild. I’ll be honest, I’m not really digging them but I’m wondering if anyone likes this style?

P & C Market is located at 1023 East Capitol St, SE. They even have a facebook page. I’m curious about this spot because a friend of mine said they have the absolute best bread/croissants in town. As you can tell I wandered around Capitol Hill this past weekend (thanks to Nichole’s desertion…) but if what I’m hearing is true, then this could be a great find to share. It’s easy to walk by this spot without noticing it as it’s in the basement of a corner rowhouse. Anyway, how’s the bread? The rest of the market?

Here’s what it looks like from the front, plus there is a flower shop behind it:

I thought these were two cool looking pop ups from the Capitol Hill area. Not sure if they’re original construction or additions. Which do you like better?

New tavern coming to 501 8th Street, SE on Barracks Row. The alcohol license says it will be a tavern featuring regional and seasonal combinations of local seafood with recorded music. The occupancy is 49 with an additional 32 for the sidewalk cafe.

In the meantime check out the murals adorning the building after the jump. (more…)

7th Hill Pizzeria and Monmartre are located at 327 7th St SE near Eastern Market. They are owned by the same folks and 7th Hill only recently opened up. My friends tell me the pizza was great. Anyone else check them out yet? Sorry to combine the two but it seemed to make sense. You can see Monmatre’s menus here.
