Period details (eg. , working transoms, vintage mantels) meet modern updates (even a central vac!). 3 brs, 2.5 bas, well-proportioned LR & Dr, each w/ wkng fpl, spiffy Kitchn, charming patio, full basement. “Hey there – my neighbor’s place just went on the market. $709K asking. We’ve had 3 houses sell on our block in the last 2 mos for over asking, so I’d be curious what folks think of this one. I went to the Open House today, and the place is absolutely gorgeous.”
I think it’s a good looking house but I don’t know 10th Street, NE that well. What do you guys think of the house and of course does $709,000 sound reasonable?

When we judged Cafe Mozart I asked about the schnitzel and some folks mentioned Cafe Berlin located at 322 Massachusetts Avenue, NE. I know they have a great outdoor dining area. It’s a good place to stop when visiting friends on the hill. I’m wondering if you think it’s a destination spot though? Is it worth the travel for their schnitzel? Any other items of note?

I love this building located near the Capitol. (more…)

This looks like a nice reno that has kept some original details. What do you think of the house itself? Does $599,000 sound reasonable?

Back in October Kenny’s was briefly mentioned when we discussed the best BBQ in the city. But I thought it deserved its own proper review. Kenny’s is located at 732 Maryland Ave, NE. Any particular favorites from this spot? What’s the best – pork, chicken or beef?
Speaking of BBQ Tom Siestma wrote last week in the GOG:
“Hill Country, the big barn of a barbecue joint in New York, is coming to Washington, courtesy of its founder, Bethesda native Marc Glosserman. While the self-service restaurant is still a year away from opening in Penn Quarter (at 410 Seventh St. NW), some of us are already licking our lips in anticipation of a slab or two of the signature dry-rubbed, slow-smoked brisket and ribs.”

This fantastic one is from Capitol Hill.
