Good Deal or Not Revisited (GDoN-R) is a weekly post that reviews the settled sales data of a recent individual real estate transaction in the District of Columbia. Each post is intended as a case study and a snapshot of the real estate market at a particular moment in time. GDoN-R generally posts on Friday in the late morning.

Edgewood. We’ve talked about this neighborhood before, as recently as September, and in April.

True, it’s not quite Bloomingdale, not quite Brookland, not quite Eckington, and close to all three. (more…)

MPD tells me the owner took the dog to an animal hospital for treatment of its injuries. It’s unclear of the status right now but will update when/if more becomes known.

From MPD:

“Fifth District detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the 1600 block of Franklin Street, NE at approximately 7pm on the evening of November 9th. The victim of the robbery was exiting his vehicle when he was approached by a man with a gun who took several items of value from the victim. After obtaining the items the suspect attempted to run to an awaiting vehicle, but the victim’s dog, who was in the car at the time of the robbery, jumped from the vehicle and attacked the robber. A second suspect waiting in the car fired a single shot, striking the dog. (more…)

Thanks to David for passing on from the Brookland Listserv:

“Tony Lee at Lee’s Auto service at 3315 8th ST NE is closing down permanently. Their last day of service is October 31st.

My wife who worked with him as the receptionist for 10 years just recieved word from Tony Lee himself.

He plans to retire after 40 years of service and has sold the land to The Menkiti group, since they had the 1st right of refusal.

Please wish Tony Lee and his team good luck before they close and most of all a big thanks for all the years of service.”

Will ATS’ new Ivy City location be the best remaining mechanic in D.C.? Anyone use Guarani Auto Body Shop (4100 Kansas Ave, NW) in Petworth?

A reader reports:

“At around 9:30 AM my husband and I spotted a beautifully colored, exotic-looking bird on the fence surrounding the Turkey Thicket recreation center track in Brookland, NE DC. Looks like it was someone’s escaped pet bird. Near the intersection of Quincy and Michigan NE. We called animal control but the bird flew away before animal control arrived.”

“@kenyanmcduffie Are we going to wait until a child walking to school at 8:30 in the morning is killed at the intersection of Taylor St NE/13th Place before making 13th Pl one ways or at least a 4-way stop? @PoPville Too many accidents/way too many near misses on daily basis!”
