Thanks to Natalie for sending: “Dollar Tree opened in the old Rite Aid(?) location at 5600 Georgia Ave. Store is fully stocked — and I could have sworn I saw a bunch of cars and shoppers here when I passed by a few days ago. But apparently the store is having some “unforeseen permit and certification issues” so its grand opening has been delayed for now. Hope it opens soon. (more…)

Went to drop off my laundry for wash (Sunday around 2:15pm), first time in more than a year since this business used to be on Kennedy Street, and as I was leaving to run a couple errands, two kids started yelling at each other down New Hampshire which then lead to them traveling up towards the Laundromat parking lot. “The Fourth District is currently (7:35pm) investigating a shooting that occurred in the 5400 block of Georgia Ave NW. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body and was transported to an area hospital. The 5400-5500 block of Georgia Ave NW will be temporarily closed while MPD investigates.
