“Dear PoPville,

My fiancee and I are looking for a rehearsal dinner spot that is close to The Line Hotel in Adams Morgan. We both have large families so the place needs to be able to accommodate up to 90 people. We’re looking for something a little bit more casual so 90 for a seated dinner isn’t a requirement. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We’ve talked to Southern Hospitality and Bourbon but they weren’t really what we wanted menu wise so open to others outside of those two.

Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

Someone stole my cherished cargo bike (Workcycles Kr8) from our garage behind Lanier Pl in Adams Morgan the night of Thursday, May 24. As you can see in the picture, it’s a funny looking wheelbarrow-bike hybrid version of the family van, so I’m hoping someone in the community will see it and alert me (202-556-0665) or the police. I do have Tiles on both the bike and the keys, and got an alert Sunday night that the one for my keys was spotted in DuPont, but by the time we got there, it was gone.

“any intel on when Zenebech in Adams Morgan will reopen? I miss their sambusas toooo much.”

Unfortunately the latest is from a few weeks ago:

“We are hoping to be open before the start of summer and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

Zenebech has been closed since December when a fire gutted next door neighbor #1 Juicy-Cajun Seafood, damaging Zenebech.  Zenebech Injera had only recently reopened, after moving from Shaw, in August 2017. Updates when they get a firm reopening date.

Unfortunately some sad news out of Adams Morgan. Rosario has closed “effective immediately.” They opened up back in March 2017.

Owner John Andrade says:

“Despite it’s multitude of 4 and 5 star ratings Rosario was just not able to generate enough revenue in the off peak hours to make the concept profitable. We all love this concept dearly but at the end of the day sales are what truly matters. Therefore, I have decided to close doors and prepare to rebrand as a Taqueria, my personal favorite style of food and a concept that I have long wanted to open. After all, who doesn’t like a great margarita? I hope to open within the next few months.

This is the former Toledo Lounge space (then briefly Libertine.)

Back in March of last year we shared the devastating news that Duccini’s had raised their jumbo slice prices by a $1. A reader, rightly, declared “dark times.” Until yesterday that is. Thanks to Mikaela Lefrak for sharing the great news (shouts of joy could be heard all the way from Willard to Columbia Road. Seriously.) Ed. Note: It’s not clear if said screams were jumbo slice related. At any rate – rejoice!!

A reader writes:

“Brass Monkey on 18th has apparently closed, from an employee who works there. It has been a fun 26 years.”

Now it’s quite possible that I haven’t been to the Brass Monkey in approximately 16 years.

Nevertheless, they had a pool table. And I played a million games at that pool table back in the day. So I shall keep nothing but my fond memories, should the closure to be true.

Perhaps it will be like the great Dan’s Cafe scare of 2015. But I don’t think so. I’m told from another source that Spaghetti Garden downstairs from Brass Monkey has also closed and that something very interesting is coming. STAY TUNED. Updates when more is known.

UPDATE: Thanks to all who messaged about the Metro Weekly story:

“Pitchers, a new LGBTQ sports bar, will open in Adams Morgan in June. David Perruzza, the longtime manager of JR.’s Bar, has signed a 10-year lease for a building that for years housed Adams Morgan mainstays, Spaghetti Garden, Roxanne Restaurant, and Peyote Karaoke Cafe.”
