Alterations, rooftop HVAC, signs and back-lit sign – SoulCycle

From an email:

East Side Yoga, opened on Monday at 518 10th St. NE, #2. In addition to being the most convenient studio to folks who live in the NE part of the Hill and Atlas District, we’ve put a lot of work into the space to make it a yoga studio like no other in town. In fact, I’ve already had multiple students tell me it’s the most beautiful yoga studio they’ve ever been to!”

“Dear PoPville,

The short of it is where oh where is a gym in NoMa/Eckington/Trinidad/H Street?

We live in NoMa and the one thing I have my fingers crossed for is a big gym (a la Results, Vida, Washington Sports Club). I have been hoping that a gym is in the works for one of the bigger spaces around Union Market but am yet to hear anything. The area it is a total black hole and it seems like a ripe market for a gym to move in given how much of the area is residential and how big some of the buildings/warehouses are. Do you know of anything? Heard even mention of it? While many of the new apartment buildings have their own gyms, for those of us in row houses or smaller buildings, there aren’t any great options within a 2 mile radius. Would love to hear your thoughts and reader thoughts…even better if you know of something that is being considered or throw around!”

SolidCore opened their first DC location in the former Video King space here back in 2013.

Thanks to a reader for passing on from Solidcore:

“I have some news to share with you today. As you all know, we have been offering limited class times at our ADMO studio in January and now in February. This is due to a dispute between us and our landlord over the noise the studio creates in 6 of the residential units above us, making them unlivable/un-rentable. Because the building is so old and the space is so small, there is nothing that can be done to fully soundproof the space. After lengthy legal negotiations with our LL, we will be closing our current ADMO location on Friday, February 27th. This is extremely bittersweet for us — ADMO was our first location and is in a neighborhood we hold near and dear to our hearts…it is also the neighborhood I live in. While we wish the LL would have been more diligent before we signed our lease, we are choosing to look at this as a little road bump in our long journey to build a special community that helps people become the strongest version of themselves. Flywheel’s website says:

“This is the workout for you.

Whoever you are.

The workout that offers a chance to achieve something more.

The step up onto a custom engineered bike.

And ride as hard as you dare.

The Flywheel indoor cycling ride includes climbs and descents, while working arms with weighted bars. It’s an amazing escape that challenges your body and relaxes your mind.

Our music playlists are choreographed to each class and make the time fly.

Our instructors lead the way, suggesting target resistance levels and RPM’s to strive for. But YOU decide exactly what’s right for you by controlling the technology on your bike. And your performance stats are made available in your private account on our website.

You’ll ride just once before you understand completely, “Why Flywheel?”
