Thanks to a reader for passing on an email from Reformation Fitness (currently located up the block):

“We are incredibly excited to confirm all the whispers you’ve heard in the annals of our studio: we’re packing up and moving to a new space!

No need to get your sweat-wicking shirts in a twist about how far away the new location will be. Our studios will finally be consolidated under one roof at 1218 9th Street NW: just 100 lunges, 75 skips, or 62 broad jumps south of our current location. Here’s a teaser of some of the things you can expect:

Four brand spankin’ new exercise studios, clocking in at almost 3,000 square feet of dedicated workout space.
More program options, class times and expanded offerings.
Additional floor space per workout, so you don’t have to worry about bumping your neighbor.
Spin bikes and Woodway Curve treadmills!

You may be worried that class sizes will increase with the larger space. Allow us to ease your heart palpitations. Group Reformer sessions will go from six to seven spots to accommodate demand during peak times, and Studio Classes will be capped at 12-15 members. You’ll get the same personal hands-on attention you’ve come to love while still feeling like you can twirl around like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music.

Stay tuned for much more detail in the coming weeks and months. WE CAN’T WAIT!”

From an email:

East Side Yoga, opened on Monday at 518 10th St. NE, #2. In addition to being the most convenient studio to folks who live in the NE part of the Hill and Atlas District, we’ve put a lot of work into the space to make it a yoga studio like no other in town. In fact, I’ve already had multiple students tell me it’s the most beautiful yoga studio they’ve ever been to!”

“Dear PoPville,

The short of it is where oh where is a gym in NoMa/Eckington/Trinidad/H Street?

We live in NoMa and the one thing I have my fingers crossed for is a big gym (a la Results, Vida, Washington Sports Club). I have been hoping that a gym is in the works for one of the bigger spaces around Union Market but am yet to hear anything. The area it is a total black hole and it seems like a ripe market for a gym to move in given how much of the area is residential and how big some of the buildings/warehouses are. Do you know of anything? Heard even mention of it? While many of the new apartment buildings have their own gyms, for those of us in row houses or smaller buildings, there aren’t any great options within a 2 mile radius. Would love to hear your thoughts and reader thoughts…even better if you know of something that is being considered or throw around!”
