Solidcore closing Adams Morgan Location Feb. 27 Due to Dispute with Landlord

SolidCore opened their first DC location in the former Video King space here back in 2013.

Thanks to a reader for passing on from Solidcore:

“I have some news to share with you today. As you all know, we have been offering limited class times at our ADMO studio in January and now in February. This is due to a dispute between us and our landlord over the noise the studio creates in 6 of the residential units above us, making them unlivable/un-rentable. Because the building is so old and the space is so small, there is nothing that can be done to fully soundproof the space. After lengthy legal negotiations with our LL, we will be closing our current ADMO location on Friday, February 27th. This is extremely bittersweet for us — ADMO was our first location and is in a neighborhood we hold near and dear to our hearts…it is also the neighborhood I live in. While we wish the LL would have been more diligent before we signed our lease, we are choosing to look at this as a little road bump in our long journey to build a special community that helps people become the strongest version of themselves. The Old Visions Movie Theater to Become a Flywheel Cycling Studio in Dupont

The Post Express finds out who’s taking over the former Visions Theater (briefly AED):

“The studio, slated for 1927 Florida Ave. NW (formerly the home of Visions Cinema Bistro), will be Flywheel’s 33rd location.”

“After months of renovations to create a space perfect for fitness, From the Core Studios, a fitness and Pilates studio located at 3111 Georgia Avenue NW, is now open for classes and will host its grand opening the weekend of October 31 through November 2. The two-level studio is the first of its kind in the neighborhood, offering a wide variety of classes suited for all levels of fitness.

The first level includes five brand-new Peak Pilates reformers and towers, perfect for a challenging workout that lengthens and tones muscles, providing a full-body workout while improving balance and flexibility. The second level will be home to wide variety of classes, such as Pilates mat, Pilates chair, strength and conditioning, TRX, kettlebell, kickboxing and boxing, interval and circuit training, barre, Zumba, African dance, and boot camp classes. CrossFit Petworth now open on Upshur

“Located at 1240 Upshur St NW, Crossfit Petworth shares the same building as the recently opened Annie’s ACE Hardware store. At 9200 square feet, CrossFit Petworth is one of DC area’s largest CrossFit gyms and is unusually large for a CF gym located in the city.

Thanks to it’s size CrossFit Petworth will be able to offer more flexibility and variety of classes than most CrossFit gyms in DC. These include, in addition to regular CrossFit classes, Ladies only classes, Kids Classes, Open Gym access (at all hours) for members and classes for Seniors as well. The ability to hold multiple classes allows CF Petworth to bring new members up to speed in a gradual and controlled manner. These options help with anyone concerned or timid about jumping in and trying out CrossFit. CrossFit Petworth has worked to remove some of the barriers of entry to make starting CrossFit a little more accessible. I just received this notice from my gym. Here’s a big thanks to DC lawmakers for discouraging people to exercise.”

“Due to the passage of a D.C. fitness tax we must apply 5.75% sales tax on all products, memberships, and services offered here at the Georgetown Law Sport & Fitness Center. The price increases will take effect on October 1st, 2014. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to make sure all members will be aware of the price increase starting next month.”
