Back in early December we broke the news that the International Square Food Court would be closing (RIP Stoupsy’s foreva.) Thanks to a reader for passing on some plans for what’s coming via Bisnow:
“The food court inside International Square and street-level restaurant Prequel both closed last month. Tishman Speyer’s email to tenants said it plans to add a food hall to the building’s street level with about 20 carefully curated vendors and a bar. The owner also plans to add two new full-service restaurants and a boutique grocer to the street level, plus an additional restaurant to the lower level, the email said.”
I’ve already heard one rumor of a Whole Foods… STAY TUNED.

As late December has come and gone and many, many folks have inquired what’s up with the Streets Market coming to the former Metro K space. The folks from Streets Market tell me they are now on track for: “a late Jan / early Feb opening. Almost done on the inside.”
We should have a firmer date in the next couple of weeks. STAY TUNED.

Boom. Back in 2016 this space was, briefly, planned for a Wegmans grocery store. North Country – get your dancing shoes! From a press release:
“Whole Foods Market has signed a 40,000-square-foot lease to anchor the Hartley at the Parks at Walter Reed, a 3.1 million-square-foot master-planned community from Hines, Urban Atlantic, and Triden Development Group. The leading natural and organic grocer is among the latest signature additions to the dynamic transformation of the former Walter Reed medical campus, the largest site under development in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Construction on The Hartley is expected to begin in early 2020 with completion of the project in early 2022. (more…)
