Let’s Codify the Official Self Check Out Rules

I was being cheeky last night but Lane’s response got me thinking me should just codify the rules here:

“Self checkout rules:

(A) less than 25 items, and this is very generous;
(B) put your bags out first. You bag as you go;
(C) no more than 5 produce items (meaning things you have to look up);
(D) know how to bag — so heavy first, layer, etc.”

What other rules should be added.

The ‘what the hell is Amazon bringing to Logan Circle?’ saga continues. On Friday a liquor license placard went up at the corner of 14th and Riggs Street, NW for Amazon Retail, LLC:

“A new Full-Service Grocery Store. Applicant is Requesting a Tasting Permit and a Retailer’s License Class B for a Full-Service Grocery Store.” (more…)

Columbia Heights Giant Grocery Store Found a Skimming Device at Self Checkout on March 5th

From GIANT FOOD: “The device was found at one self-checkout point at its store at 1345 Park Road, in Northwest.”

“To Our Valued Giant Food Customers,

We recently learned of an issue involving some of our customers’ personal information. On March 5, 2020, we learned that someone had illegally placed a device that skims information from payment cards on top of a pin pad at one of the self-checkout registers at the Giant Food store located at 1345 Park Road, NW, Washington.
