A precious 3 year old girl who lived in my building was tragically shot and killed on the 5th of July after watching fireworks with her family in SE. A man approached the car and shot inside it hitting the sweet baby that I used to see at our building’s pool splashing and playing in the head.

The funeral was this week and her family has a Go Fund Me set up<,/a> to help cover costs and have yet to reach their goal. (more…)

Go Fund Me for a wonderful teacher at our neighborhood daycare. Nancy’s husband suffered a serious traumatic brain injury on Mother’s Day and has been hospitalized ever since. Nancy has been juggling caring for their children and dealing with this major medical crisis. She is a wonderful person, adored by the toddlers she cares for, and I would love to support her during this extraordinarily difficult time.”

The 55 year old man that was killed several days ago from the hit and run in DC just had family create a go fund me. He worked in my apartment building and the building just shared with us. He was such a kind and warm person.”

“Dear PoPville,

This year, I’m celebrating my 5th year as a badass breast cancer survivor and raising funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women globally, with increasing rates–especially among women under 50. Unfortunately, I know this all too well–I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at just 34 years old. After completing treatment in February 2020, I promised to do whatever I could to prevent others from facing what I went through.

To mark this occasion, I’m hosting an in-person benefit bingo night called “Boobs for Bingo” on Thursday, February 27 at Whitlow’s (901 U St NW). Expect (more…)
