“Dear PoPville,
This past weekend, a malnourished, disabled, and severely neglected senior Yorkie was discovered in the garbage of a DC apartment complex after being thrown down the trash chute. She was miraculously discovered by someone who called animal control, and rescued by Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue.
We’ve named her Apple. She arrived to us skin and bones, and her lower back, hips, and knees have been damaged. She can walk, though only mainly on her front legs. But despite it all? Apple is JOYFUL. Not broken, not shut down – joyful. She brightens at kindness, loves being pet, and her tail has not stopped wagging since she got to us.
Apple is safe now. She will receive care, warmth, and tenderness, but her medical needs will be expensive. If you’d like to support her care, you can find Venmo and PayPal info here. Miri’s Haven is entirely run by volunteers, so every cent goes directly to Apple.
