“The Department regrets to announce the line-of-duty death of Battalion Fire Chief Keith T. Long, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Battalion Chief Long was appointed to the Department on 12/19/1988. Battalion Fire Chief Long was currently serving as a Safety Battalion Chief at the time of his passing.
Battalion Fire Chief Long served the residents and visitors of the District for 38 years.”
