A reader reports:

“There was a large house fire on the corner of 44th and Albemarle Street early morning. Around 330. I don’t think anyone was hurt but firefighters were there for a couple of hours crashing windows, using chainsaws, loudspeakers etc. Very sad and scary. Looks like investigators are there now.”

“Update Working Fire 4500 block 44th St NW. Had significant fire 1st & 2nd floor and attic 2 story detached wood frame house. Visible fire extinguished. 2 occupants safely self evacuated. Still hitting hotspots. No injuries.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea of the new-ish Pupatella is already closed (and why?)? There is a big orange “danger” sign posted on the door and the inside has that hastily abandoned restaurant look. The building has been cursed as a high turnover location, so I was surprised to see a legit restaurant move in – was hoping for a turnaround.”

Thanks to Steve for sending from outside Chicatana around 2:45am: “There were a bunch of fire and other emergency vehicles there. I was surprised to see so many.”

DC Fire and EMS reported: “Final Update: Box Alarm – 3900 Block of 14th Street NW

All fire contained to kitchen.

Cause of fire is accidental/mechanical in nature. @DC_DOB, @_DCHealth, and @PepcoConnect requested to scene.

DC Fire and EMS reports: “Update 2 Alarm fire Unit block Seaton Pl. NW. All visible fire extinguished. Opening up and extinguishing hotspots. Extension to adjacent attached home halted. Anticipating several displacements. Still no injuries reported.

Update 2 Alarm fire unit block Seaton Pl. NW. Attacking fire all floors via interior and working to cut off extension via attics. Still fire in attic and roof of original fire building.”
