Update from DC Fire and EMS: “Update Working Fire 400 block Rhode Island Ave NE. All visible fire knocked down. Checking for hotspots. Fire originated rear porches & extended into interior 2 story mixed use building. No injuries reported. Displacements anticipated.”
DC Fire and EMS reports: “Conditions encountered upon arrival at Working Fire 4th St & Rhode Island Ave NE. Dry, windy conditions led to rapid spread of fire thru rear porches and into 2nd floor”

“Small fire around 7:30 pm at RFK roof’s west end (photos taken from Fields at RFK.) DCFD on the scene. Possibly related to demo process.”
There was also a small fire inside RFK August 18th. And a bigger one back in 2022.

A reader reports:
“There was a large house fire on the corner of 44th and Albemarle Street early morning. Around 330. I don’t think anyone was hurt but firefighters were there for a couple of hours crashing windows, using chainsaws, loudspeakers etc. Very sad and scary. Looks like investigators are there now.”

“Dear PoPville,
Any idea of the new-ish Pupatella is already closed (and why?)? There is a big orange “danger” sign posted on the door and the inside has that hastily abandoned restaurant look. The building has been cursed as a high turnover location, so I was surprised to see a legit restaurant move in – was hoping for a turnaround.”
