Rebecca recounts a helluva a tale last night around 7:30pm:

“Just happened by a blazing balcony fire on 16th St across from Meridian Hill Park. Another bystander and I came across the fire at the same time. He immediately sprinted around the block and appeared ON THE BALCONY spraying a fire extinguisher. Hero!!!”

P. adds: “He took the fire extinguisher from my hands and we both ran to the balcony (I was at the balcony door until he yelled to empty the place). It was my neighbor’s home.”

DC Fire and EMS reported early Sunday morning: “Update Working Fire 1000 block U St NW. #DCsBravest have placed fire under control. Aggressive interior firefighting prevented spread to adjacent structures. There are no injuries reported and investigators are on scene. 2 story commercial building appears unoccupied.”


Thanks to Virginia for sending from: “the alley behind Harvard St near 14th around 6pm. Fire Department came and put it out before it got too bad.”

DC Fire and EMS first reported at 4:14am: “Box Alarm 1500 block Monroe St NE. Fire showing 2 story house.”

“#DCsBravest are saddened to report that the victim of the fire in the 1500 block of Monroe St NE lost his life. His pet dog also perished. The thoughts and prayers of our Department are with his family and friends.” (more…)
