Some folks have written in requesting a photo of the charter school on Georgia Ave. just south of LGL. Notice it’s proximity to Lion’s Liquor &…

As has been noted before, most of the new DC USA complex looks a little bit like it could be a cross between an insane asylum and a toilet paper factory from the Soviet Union circa 1976. But anyway, as I was walking down Irving St., (Dang I can’t remember the street but I think it was Irving) I noticed that there is one small facade that they have managed to preserve. So I think when the mall finally opens in March I will always enter through this entrance. Check out the contrast to the rest of the complex after the jump.  It doesn’t really seem to mesh that nicely.   What do you guys think, was it worth  it to preserve this one facade even if it clashes with the rest of the building? For the expats abroad. It’s starting to get some serious foundation. It seems like the two cranes have been working nonstop. But what I am more excited about is what it will bring to us. Check out the Mocha Hut below. This is from the U Street location. We are going to have a similar set up very soon. I dare say it is going to be dope sky.

Thanks to a reader for sending in this awesome photo. This is a row of cement trucks on the 800 block of Taylor on their way to laying the foundation for the Yes! Organic Market.

From the ANC 4C meeting as posted on the Petworth Listserv:

“Timothy Cox, Chief Operating Officer, Armed Forces Retirement Home, provided information pertaining to the Draft Master Plan, 2007 version, for development of the Home. Planned development includes the development of office space, apartments, condominiums, shops and a hotel in the southeast corner near North Capitol and Irving Streets. The Home also plans to create a twenty-to-twenty- five acre public park with bike and walking paths accessible from Irving Street NW. “

What is going to go in right next to the Wendy’s on Georgia Ave.? It certainly looks like a prime location…

14th and T Street, NW

Metrocurean has the scoop on 1902 14th Street, catty corner from St. Ex on 14th and T. By the by where does the expression catty corner come from? Anyway, Metrocurean reports: “Plans include a seasonal American restaurant on one floor with chef Brian Murphy at the helm, and a sushi operation by Wasabi Sushi on the second floor.” Sounds good to me. More sushi for U Street…

I believe this is the huge deal that is going to be demolished and redeveloped soon on lower 14th St. near Chapin and Florida.
