“Dear PoPville,

And here’s a new one…just spotted this one in Adams Morgan and it comes with a pad lock to keep the cover locked down over the plates and makes it impossible to remove!”

“Dear PoPville,

2151 California St., formerly the oddly named The Amelia & Paul, as of yesterday has changed it’s name to the equally odd The Bobbi”

“Dear PoPville,

I just saw and killed a spotted lanternfly at my office in the District. The link to report them to the D.C. government is here.

D.C. has information about spotted lanternflies and how to recognize them at their different life stages here. (I’d seen lots of photos of adults, and some photos/illustrations of egg masses, but I didn’t know until today what the two nymph stages look like.)

Please keep an eye out and report any spotted lanternflies or egg masses that you see. (When possible, please also squash the bugs and scrape egg masses).

Ed. Note: OP rushed to the vet but put in a call to 311 for city services to have it cleaned up – but that obviously could take a while, if ever, so if someone lives nearby can clean it up – that’d be most appreciated. And most importantly please be aware here, and elsewhere on 18th/alleys to make sure pup steers clear. If it’s cleaned up today, the same person could put more out tomorrow.

Update: “Another neighbor had cleaned most of the worst offenders up, so we removed some errant pellets. HOWEVER, there is still a lot of it on the ground in harder to access locations in the rear/alley of 1777 T St NW. @HumaneRescue has been called as well.”

“Dear PoPville,

Someone dumped a bunch of rat poison on the sidewalk, parking lot, and in the alley way in between 1901 and 1915 18th St NW. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

A belated rant and rave from Friday…

RANT: we used to have two signs in our front yard on 15th St NW, one a rainbow flag “Love is Love” and the other a sign from the National Council of Jewish Women saying “Abortion Bans are Against Our Religion”. On Friday afternoon, some of our neighbors encountered a man (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My boiler here in Petworth broke last spring. Pilot light wouldn’t stay lit. I finally got it fixed today, got a great neighbor referral to a local HVAC guy, turned out I had to replace the gas valve. My teenage kid is now so thrilled to own an antiquity from the 70’s! Hope they still build them like they used to!”

If you have a photo of a neat find from your house, place of work or neighborhood please send an email to [email protected] thanks. Please let me know where/what neighborhood you found it in too. Thanks.
