I was wondering if any readers had any experience or recommendations for staining the exterior of a brick home. My brick is a lousy color and I’ve read that staining brick bypasses the drawbacks of paint peeling/bubbling over time. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences staining their brick and did they do it themselves or hire a local contractor?”

Surprisingly, I’ve had trouble finding local opportunities by searching online. Wondering if readers know of any tips on places I can help — mass vaccination sites, smaller clinics, DC government/Dept of Health (or VA/MD for that matter)…etc.”

“My gripe pertains to mail delivery.”

“Dear PoPville,

I can tolerate getting our mail delivery during the week as late as 10:30pm, and I’m aware the USPS delivery people are overwhelmed, but tonight our mail was just thrown up on the porch, no attempt to put in our mail box. This delivery included some very important and personal financial documents.”

“Where’s my stimulus money?”

“Dear PoPville,

received a letter from the IRS stating that my direct deposit had been scheduled for March 13. Same information displayed on the Get My Payment website. Never received the money. After about two weeks, I called my bank. They said they have no record of payment from the IRS.

Checked Get My Payment again a few days later, and it says my check was mailed April 2. (more…)

“ISO Good Samaritan who helped w/steaming Jeep hood”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m in search of a Good Samaritan who helped me when my car broke down in Petworth earlier today (Tuesday), and hoping you can help connect us so I can return items he lent me to get my car running again.

At around 11 a.m. today (Tuesday April 13), a man saw that the hood of my red Jeep was erupting steam and brought me a container of water and a rag before going back inside. (more…)

“Mysterious Lights in the Sky”

I saw bright lights appear in the sky down 14th street, and I was wondering if anyone knows what they were. They moved around and looked like they were flashing, and they definitely did not seem like planes. Did anyone else see these around 7:40 pm? In case it helps, a video is attached!
