“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking around for activities this fall for my almost 3 year old. He just misses the preschool cutoff and I’m looking for fill his time with 2-3 activities with other kids, per week since he is very social. Anyone have great ideas? I’m happy to drive to md, dc, or Va for the right activity!

Ideally looking at karate, gymnastics, outdoor playgroups? Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

I participate in an international postcard exchange (yes, I’m a nerd) and I have been trying to find statehood postcards. I’ve seen the two that are on sale at the Outrage, but would really appreciate hearing about any additional sources / designs. In a perfect world, I would love to get postcards of the MuralsDC51 projects, but I haven’t seen them for sale anywhere. Any recommendations that you can provide would be very helpful.”

“Dear PoPville,

I signed up for the DC COVID alert notifications on my phone back when the program was announced in October 2020. I hadn’t received any notifications until recently. On Sunday 8/8, I got one saying I’d been potentially exposed on July 28 (11 days after the exposure, during which I’d traveled by plane, hung out with friends unmasked and indoors, etc.). Then this morning, I got a notification saying I’d also been exposed on July 29 (15 days after exposure). (more…)

A reader reports at 11:53pm Sunday night:

“we saw the aftermath of a bad crash involving four cars on the southeast corner of North Capitol St and Bryant NE. One individual appeared to have substantial injuries and was taken to an ambulance in a stretcher. Notably, she was driving a car with diplomatic plates. Secret Service arrived after MPD. She did not cause the crash. I spoke with a Lyft driver who arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and tried to help the driver of the car that did cause the crash. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing about a possible missed connection from this weekend. On Sunday (8/8), my friend and I were touring an apartment for him on 16th & Irving and a handsome stranger was also waiting to tour the same apartment. When the agent arrived, he asked us if we wanted to tour together to save some time, and we happily agreed! (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have a group of about 20 who want to dine together. Given the pandemic situation, we are all a little touchy about dining indoors. Do you know of a place with a big outdoor patio and/or a location we could reserve in a park and a caterer who could hook us up with a sweet picnic option? Preferably near or easy to get to without a car from the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan/Cleveland Park area?”

“Dear PoPville,

would you be able to crowdsource recommendations on where to donate books and / or basically new clothes (including brand new bras and underwear)? I would love to give this stuff to DC-focused charities or causes that could specifically use those items. Although can obviously bring to Goodwill or similar as a back up.”

“Dear PoPville,

There was a small fire in the apartments on Monroe Street, just off 14th, in Columbia Heights on Tuesday evening (around 7 pm). A guy named Cal with a sweet smile and very cute curls was stopped with his bike and watching the emergency response, so I got up the courage to go say hi. (more…)

Thanks to SD for sending: “Last night around 10:15pm, came across this car that jumped the median and crashed into a pole–totally abandoned, no one inside. Pretty sure this is Rhode Island and Florida Ave, NW”
