“Dear PoPville,

Sorry I don’t have more details to share with you, but a man tried to grab me from behind at 15th and N NW this morning. I was on a jog and he was standing between two cars and jumped out at me as I was running past. He tried to grab me around my chest/shoulders, which he easily could have done if I wasn’t already running. He yelled at me as I was running away, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m tired of construction companies and DDOT running this city without consideration for residents. This Fort Meyer crew showed up and started digging enough to shake our houses at 7:52am. These signs aren’t even legal! Anyone else tired of dealing with construction? Can’t they finish a street before they start another one? I reported it to 311 and it will be investigated by June 9th.”

“Picture of our collection — they are each about the size of a mini fridge.”

“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if anyone else is seeing these giant containers for packages around. They started showing up in my building (small building with no front desk/concierge) over the past week — so far, we’ve collected two. They are always filled with Amazon packages for multiple addresses on our block. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have a question for the community. I’m looking for a good place to buy a used bike. I’m not a bike expert,, I just need a solid bike to get around town. Preferably at a decent price, good condition, and not the product of theft. Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

saw 2 cars getting booted in NW this morning. Looked like MD plates on both of them. I’ve heard DC has been struggling to enforce tickets/fines on out of town drivers – perhaps this is a step in the right direction?”

And in other car wheel news: (more…)

3651 Georgia Ave, NW

Ed. Note: From Reliable Tavern (3655 Georgia Ave, NW) also located on the block: “We have a lease through at least 2026 and at this point we are planning to continue operating for the foreseeable future. COVID was really challenging, but we’ve been fortunate to receive some additional funding from the city to help us with back rent, and really appreciate the continued support from the community…. business is picking up.”

Will update when/if I learn about any changes coming to the other businesses on the block.

“Dear PoPville,

iacovelli Cafe & Liquor [“Liquor store and cafe. Beer, wine, liquor. Regular breakfast, lunch, dinner + special additional Jamaican menu (curry chicken/shrimp, oxtail, brown stew)], is closing at the end of May. Our old landlord ignored our request to renew our lease (we have been there 5.5 years), then sold the building! Very sad for us as we bought this store when our daughter was born and we survived through Covid. My husband Tambe runs the store and is the chef.” (more…)
