“Dear PoPville,

I live at 16th and R streets NW and I’m used to a lot of street noise, but recently (as in right now, 7:56pm on 4/27) I’m hearing what sounds like a loud outdoor concert. It’s all good, I know I live in a city and expect the noise. But I’m honestly curious as to where it is coming from and if it is a regular program. (more…)

A reader sends yesterday from “13th & N Street NW. Shocked no one saw or heard this. Rock was at least 50 lbs and they carried it from down the street and across the street about 40 yards. Police didn’t even show up. Thieves got away with an ez pass and roll of paper towels. Reminder to not leave anything in your car. Seeking anyone with video.”

Oof.

Something I’ve been curious about for those who have cars and ez-pass: Do you leave your EZ-Pass in your car overnight or take it inside?

“Dear PoPville,

Interested to know if this is a weird fluke with my mail or a more general new problem with the local delivery system. I got this returned mail yesterday, but I’m pretty sure PEPCO puts the correct address on their payment slips, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I own the top floor of a 4-unit condo building and have sole access to a back roof deck. Recently we advanced a comprehensive roof repair and replacement project that required the deck to be demolished.

Which I did by myself, including haul away. The other HOA members recognize that I am due a certain level of compensation to rebuild, but I’m struggling coming up with an appropriate percentage, especially considering that we just spent $30,000 on roof work.

The deck was old, and I know that needs to be factored in. Anyone have previous experience with a limited common element being extracted for necessary repairs to a common element? How did you approach rebuilding?

“Dear PoPville,

The trash truck didn’t come pick up our trash this week. It didn’t come pick up our street’s cans and the surrounding street’s cans. We’re in NW DC. This has happened a few times now where the city just skips trash pick up days resulting in overflow trash on the streets. I’m curious if any of your readers are experiencing this in their neighborhoods or have insight into why the city just doesn’t pick up trash some weeks?

“Dear PoPville,

I need your advice. My ex broke up with me a day before Valentine’s Day earlier this year. He had insisted on cooking up a nice Vday meal for us and then we had plans to go stargazing at the National Mall. Instead I spent my Valentine’s Day bawling my eyes out in bed all day.

Several months later, he is now saying that he made a bad decision and that he wants to get back together. A big part of me still really misses him but on the other hand, he caused me a great deal of pain and emotional distress. I honestly don’t know what to do. Pls help!
