“Dear PoPville,

I figured I’d give this a shot because google has led me down a rabbit hole to broken links. But does anyone know of any gyms that currently offer childcare?

I would love to know what other DC residents are doing because these parents just want to shed the COVID weight without having to spend a grip on babysitters on top of daycare.”

“Dear PoPville,

I noticed recently that in both US Park Service-managed sections of Rock Creek Park (below Calvert street, and below the P St Bridge), the grass was very tall.

I just spoke with a very kind woman at the Park Service and she said that they normally contract that work out, but that the contract was stalled in processing and so they had to (slowly) do the work in-house. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I matched with a really cool guy on hinge a few weeks ago, and we chatted for a while – but then I left the country and spent a few weeks in Europe. When I came back I opened the app again and could no longer find his profile. He probably deleted his page.. but he did so before I could get his contact info. I regret not checking the app while I was abroad and really hope to find him!

“Dear PoPville,

Over the weekend my husband was doing some yard work and he saw a hipster kid (young adult) on a scooter stopped in front of our house. He opened his backpack pulled out a ketchup bottle and started spraying our neighbor’s car with what looked like watered-down ketchup. My husband yelled at the person and he wasn’t scared off until my husband started approaching him. This all happened in broad daylight.

My neighbor has lived in Trinidad for 70 years and runs a hauling business. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I read an article a few weeks ago about crazy rent increases in Washington DC. Our rent is scheduled to go up from about 2100 to 2700 for a 12 month lease, or 3300 for a 6 month lease. If it matters, that’s just base rent and doesn’t include parking, dog fees, electric, or water… Our building isn’t rent controlled but is that even legal?”

“Dear PoPville,

TO THE WHITE PIT BULL OWNER IN BRIGHTWOOD (and dog owners generally):

PLEASE LEASH YOUR DOG, EVEN IF THEY ARE FRIENDLY (and don’t be a d**k!)

Saturday afternoon, I was hanging out at a neighborhood park in Brightwood, sitting on a picnic blanket with my (leashed) dog at reclining by my side. The park was mostly empty except for at one point when a man passed by walking his (leashed) German Shepherd. He and his dog stayed at a distance and were totally fine. But the next thing I know, as I’m about to go back to my sketchbook, my dog starts freaking out and screaming bloody murder at something behind me. When I turn around, I see a third dog, an unleashed white pit bull, charging towards us. (more…)
