My meter relocation issue was posted on Monday and on Tuesday, I received a call from someone in the construction department of Washington Gas. Apparently several people had forwarded him the posting and he was calling to help answer my questions and resolve the issue.

I relocated to 4th & Mass NW from Kansas City 2 months ago. I’m finally settled, and have been looking for my “go to” neighborhood bar for the past 2 weeks. The other night, I tried Irish Channel (5th and H near the Capital One Arena) and I think it might be “the one.” I noticed a group of people had custom Irish Channel mugs with their names, and seemed to be very friendly with the bartenders. I was wondering if the community could help me out on my search for a good vanilla Italian soda in DC! Before moving to DC, my local coffee shop had the best Italian Soda. I know it’s really just club soda and flavored syrup, but there is a certain nostalgia about sitting outside with an Italian Soda. I’ve been craving a Vanilla Italian soda for a few weeks but haven’t been able to find anywhere around DC that does them. Any recommendations on where to look?”

I’m not sure if related to the earlier report near Lincoln Park but two weeks ago a man in an older gold sedan stopped me to ask for directions. I was walking him, outside of Maury elementary, on the hill when he stopped me. He was in his car with the window cracked about a third of the way. He asked me for directions repeatedly. (more…)

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to find out who/what your address is being used for in DC? I ask because my husband and I bought our home 2+ years ago in NE DC. We’re used to getting mail for old tenants, but we’re pretty sure the former owners and their kids/grandkids are still using our address for residency, schools, etc. Has anyone ever dealt with something similar or have advice?”

I’ve noticed more “missing cats” signs posted on lampposts lately. I might suggest that DC newbies and students be aware that Rock Creek Park is very intertwined with our neighborhoods, and when you notice those cute bunnies in the early mornings and evenings in your blocks, there are also those beautiful foxes seeking them out … as well as for your cats. Beware, bring in your pets at night.”
