“Dear PoPville,

I was at the West End Library and passed in front of this home on 25th and L. On the lawn are these two small brick monuments. My guess is that they represent where a building once stood, but I’m not sure. Any guesses?”

UPDATE: Found!!

“Dear PoPville,

Very strange request here! I have a lovely boyfriend who is the sweetest guy in the world but a couple of months ago he got a concussion and is suffering from memory issues. Yesterday he parked his car somewhere in Dupont Circle and since then he hasn’t been able to remember where he parked it. We called 311 and it hasn’t been towed. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

There have been emergency no parking signs posted on the 1600 block of Kalorama NW for a construction setup area for the past 2 weeks, but no vehicles or equipment has been placed there during that time. There was construction on the sidewalk nearby that area a few weeks ago, but since that initial work, I have not seen any construction activity. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My husband and I are doing a home refresh which includes updating our kitchen cabinets, redoing our bathroom, and adding HVAC. After doing some research, it looks like the DRCA’s Postcard Permit process is the way to go. From what I’ve read, it’s a quick process. But does anyone have any recent experience from this and know how quickly they issue a permit? Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

My wife Jean and I want to send a big thank you to all of the people on Shepherd Street NW for PorchFest on Saturday April 29. Our 13-month old Jack had a simple febrile seizure, and gave his parents quite a panic. We want to let the community know how grateful we were for your help calling 911 and keeping us calm. And we want to especially thank Dr. Christina Baviskar for stepping in and helping us. Jack is doing great and has made a speedy recovery. (more…)

Ed. Note: If anyone has info on the whereabouts please email me at [email protected] and I’ll pass on to OP.

“Dear PoPville,

On Thursday 4/27, at 4:32 AM, two gentlemen borrowed, and did not return, our building’s dumpster. It looks like they were moving a refrigerator up the alleyway between Holmead and 13th street, and trying to get the refrigerator into a vehicle parked on Monroe Street NW. This large, fancy fridge was hard to move and they did not have a handcart. So! they loaded it on our dumpster as a dolly.

We’ve scouted the area looking for a large orange dumpster, but with no success. Perhaps they drove off with the dumpster as well as the refrigerator in either a large pick-up or box truck. We captured some of the activity on our building security camera, and a neighbor who was woken up by the commotion and captured it on his iPhone.

Our bottom line is that we just want the dumpster back. No questions asked, (more…)

Stacee asks: “It’s on a few signs. I put in a ticket to 311 but haven’t heard any update. It’s dangerous for those not able to see exits until the last second. This is the southbound one, there is one that is northbound that is covering all the words.”
