“Dear PoPville,
Any update on the Duke’s reopen date? Your February post was really helpful and said “a few months”. Hoping for early summer!”

“Dear PoPville,
On Monday, May 15th, 2023 at approximately 7:30 am, my four and a half-month old puppy was attacked by another dog in Swampdoodle Park in NoMa. The dog entered the park with its owner and bolted straight for my dog, jumping him, and viciously attacking him. Luckily, my dog was at my feet, and with the help of an unidentified good samaritan, they pulled the dog off of mine, stopping the attack. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Seeking advice on how to deal with a difficult resident situation in my apartment complex. There is a resident in this complex that is experiencing a severe mental health crisis and it is seriously impacting other residents’ ability to live safely in our own apartments.
First, I do want to say that I am incredibly sympathetic to this resident’s current situation. I don’t want them to end up experiencing homelessness, and I don’t want to escalate this to the police if I can help it. From what I have gathered from dealing with management for months, they are not in a city program and their family is unwilling to help, so I am at a loss as to what our options are. Management’s only option at this time is a suggestion to move. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
After watching a tour bus decimate what was left of these flex posts at 19th and Florida NW, what department is responsible for replacing these?”

“Dear PoPville,
Seeking advice on how to address very loud music at Harvard Towers in Mount Pleasant. We own a house nearby and when the weather gets warm, the music starts blasting. And it’s not occasional loud music, it’s almost everyday and sometimes at all hours of the night. We are fans of the selection (!) but it is very loud, disruptive, and entirely disrespectful to their neighbors. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
What should I do if dc water tells me the place I’m renting has lead pipes? Problem is my landlord is quite unfriendly so likely will not greet this news well”

“Dear PoPville,
Do we know what has happened to the Farmer’s Market at 14th and U? It usually starts the first Saturday of May every year. But as of this past weekend, no sign of it so far this year and no info on their website/social media.”

“Dear PoPville,
Suspicious package in Bethesda metro station — WMATA security called and told me to evacuate
Yesterday, around 7:30 p.m., I reported a highly suspicious package at the Bethesda metro station (above). The people on the platform noticed it but seemed non-pulsed. It was two boxes with wires coming out of the top, hooked up to a server board. It was on a platform with wheels.
I immediately called the Metro Transit Police to report it. They confirmed they would send officers to the station. A few minutes later, I boarded the red line and didn’t see the suspicious device enter the train.
A few minutes later, a WMATA officer called me and told me they had reports of this suspicious device on the red line heading to Metro Center. (more…)
