“Witnessed kidnapping yesterday – do you know if there are any cameras facing the parking lot?”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m a resident in an apartment building that is right by Gonzaga’s parking lot, and on my walk home yesterday I heard what I came to find was a kidnapping in the parking lot around 4:30PM.

This is the lot that is just north of Gonzaga high school at the intersection of K St and North Capitol. Before rounding the corner there to turn up North Capitol I heard what I can only describe as a blood curdling scream. I thought it initially was from the Rise apartment directly north of the parking lot so I headed in that direction. I then heard it a second time as I slowly walked north and so did another person, who then proceeded to walk with me. At this point we saw in the parking lot a white van, a smaller sedan and a golden sedan with all of its doors and trunk open. 4 men, all appeared Latino, were standing around these cars, one by the trunk of the sedan, in navy shirts with white lettering. I thought they worked in the area and did not initially put together the situation. We then heard the scream a third time as we walked up North Capitol, which was so loud we thought it might still be from the apartment.

As we walked up, one of these men closed all of the doors on the golden sedan including the trunk, and after we got maybe 10 feet north of where these cars were parked we heard the same scream, muffled, behind us. It was clear at this point that the screams had been coming from the car, and myself and the other person realized what we witnessed.

I’m writing you out of desperation. I immediately alerted police and have now come to learn that they sent a car to briefly investigate, finding no one, and left. They told me this morning the inquiry is “closed.” I’m incredibly worried about the safety of this woman and am also concerned that this was the extent of police investigation.

I’ve already contacted Rise to see if they have cameras facing the parking lot, which they don’t. I did the same with the John and Jill Ker Conway Residence, who might have access to a camera that can help to get info about these cars. I was not sure who to write at Gonzaga about this, so if there is someone else who would know more please do forward them this message or put them in touch with me if it would be easier.

This is my question: do you know if there are any cameras facing the parking lot?

Here are the major details: golden sedan this color (with I think a tailfin), white van, one other either 2 door or 4 door, smaller car. Were in the parking lot at 4::30PM yesterday, so chances are they pulled in roughly 3:30 or slightly beyond. Maybe the proper time range would be (3-5PM).”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
