capitol hemp

After closing back in August 2012, Capitol Hemp is coming back.  Capitol Hemp first opened in Apr. 2008 at 1802 Adams Mill Road, NW.  In Oct. 2011 their stores were raided by MPD.  As we know the times are a changing.

Capitol Hemp announced on twitter:

“We sell unique cannabis items such as hemp clothing, bags, paper, pipes, vaporizers and more. Open soon at 1770 Columbia Road NW Washington DC”

“Began the build out today at 1770 Columbia Rd NW .”

“People over 21 can lawfully speak using terms like #Bong and #Hashpipe in the new #CapitolHemp store thanks to @DCMJ2014 #I71.”

“When we open we will feature local artists including @flugennock’s decades of political cartoons. The store is a free speech zone.”

Some interesting Logan Circle scuttlebutt from a reader:

“La-z-boy plans to open on 14th (south of Rhode Island Ave). Yes, La-z-boy. It is either the old, vacant space on the south side of 7-11 or the new building next to that. It is supposed to be a new smaller, urban concept store.”

Chick Fil A aside (or perhaps another example of depending on your perspective), folks have been pretty frustrated and disappointed with all the vacant retail spaces in DC USA on 14th Street in Columbia Heights. I recently noticed all the new marketing signs – hopefully it helps. Let’s say there’s room for 10 new tenants – how many you think should be restaurants vs some other retail?

A reader reports:

“It looks like muleh is packing up their stuff, but I don’t see any sign posted. Wonder if the rent is too damn high? The old Vastu space is still sitting vacant. Did you see the article on the new urban blight in the New Yorker recently? I think this is happening a log in DC now, and there’s no incentive at all for landlords to rent their spaces rather than wait for that big-fish rental prospect.”
