Back in April we learned that NY Bagel Cafe and Deli was coming to U Street. I popped in Lovely Yogurt for an update and was told it’s at least two months out before we see any bagels. Also NY Bagel will cohabitate the space with Lovely Yogurt. I remain cautiously optimistic. Stand by.

Thanks to a reader for sending from Shinola’s new spot opening in September. Nice.

I shit you not. I’m hearing the space that was once planned for a Nando’s could become a 7-11. Or maybe an animal hospital. Stay tuned.

The property home to Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits has sold for $6.76 million according to the Washington Business Journal. Thank God they report the owner saying:
“To move the store was almost impossible. So then I was approached by Polinger, and we agreed to have the store remain here, and they would just purchase the land and maybe do something in the distant future. We’ve got the equivalent of a 30- to 35-year lease.”

Park’s Hardware is located at 920 H Street Northeast. The listing says:
“Great redevelopment opportunity on H Street; 4,600 square feet of retail space in the middle of the thriving H Street Corridor. Zoned C2A with ‘H Street Overlay’. High Ceilings, full lower level. Wide street frontage Prime area for H Street Retail District. Right across from Ben’s Chili and Rappaport Shopping Center. Tax ID 0933//0803 + 0933//0057 (total lot size 2675 sf)”
It’s going for a cool $2,500,000.

Thanks to DC9 for passing on the progress across the street on 9th just south of Florida Ave/U Street.

Back in September 2014 the Adams Morgan BID had heard that a Chipotle would be taking over the space. Now you can see a Hair Salon is coming soon. This follows the news of Crumbs & Coffee being replaced by a Boost Mobile across the street.
Mixtec closed after 40 years back in March 2014.

About a month ago we learned about a petition hoping to block a 7-11 from coming to this corner. At that time Citylab’s Kriston Kapps penned A Petition Against a D.C. 7-11 and the Crypto-Classism of NIMBYism:
“It’s one thing when someone groans about a store he doesn’t like opening in his neighborhood. It’s another when nearly 200 others join him in his call to keep out commercial enterprises that cater to people of lower means. It’s classism.”
Kapps can now back away from the Bastille, a reader tweets us a sign permit for a 7-Eleven at 2300 14th Street, NW:

I’ll have a 5th of Powers, a 6 pack of 60 Minute and a baguette Please. Actually I guess this isn’t too random since Sherry’s was selling cheese a while back too… No, this is still pretty random for a liquor store. Random and awesome of course.
