OK a couple weeks ago I mentioned I was sitting on some sweet Wawa scuttlebutt when we spoke about the possibility of a Wawa taking over the old Zoup space downtown. As I said at that time, I was only giving that scuttlebutt a 50/50 chance. However, this one is rock solid. Ed. Note: There is always a +/- 3% chance of something happening last minute. But I feel very good about this one. Updates and details on location when it’s locked in 100%.

“Target is announcing plans to open two small-format stores in the D.C. area, one located in Cleveland Park and the other on New York Ave. in Ivy City’s Hecht District. Projected to open in Spring 2019 and Fall 2020, respectively, these two locations will be Target’s sixth and seventh small-format stores in the D.C. metro area, joining existing locations in College Park (July 2015), Rosslyn (October 2015) and Bethesda (April 2016) as well as future stores at Falls Church Tinner Hill (March 2018) and Ballston, Va. The two in D.C. are in Columbia Heights DC USA at 3100 14th Street, NW and off H Street, NE at 1551 Maryland Avenue, NE.

Updates when we learn what becomes of the Georgetown space. Sports Zone Elite closed in Chinatown at 675 H Street, NW last November.
