Back in July we heard some scuttlebutt that some Portuguese flame-grilled chicken could be headed toward the western end of H Street, NE. It’s official – Nando’s Peri Peri is coming to 411 and 413 H Street, NE. The folks from Nando’s tell me “we will be opening a new Nando’s in spring 2015 (hopefully in May) on H Street NE.”

While we’re waiting for the Indian Cultural Center to come to U Street, a piece of India has already dropped in Dupont. Thanks to those who sent emails about Pansaari opening on 17th Street.
Their website says:
“We will be an Indian food and spice market, cafe, and cooking school, serving the Dupont area with fresh, authentic Indian ingredients.”
This place is awesome.

We judged Stan’s back in 2009. For those not familiar with Stan’s:

Good news for those who’ve been excited about the 24 hour Surfside coming to Dupont – I’m told they are hoping to open by “the end of September”! Stay tuned for an exact date.

“did the new restaurant from the Cafe Asia owners in 733 10th nw fall through? Liquor license signs gone. Lease ads up”
Hmm, grand opening was slated for July. If it did fall through this would be the second false start for this space.

Big &pizza expansion news from the Washington Business Journal:
“Next up for the restaurant group: Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill, Chinatown and Rockville. Co-founder Steve Salis expects all of those to open by the end of 2014 or early 2015, he said.”
The Dupont Circle and Chinatown locations are reported to be 1215 Connecticut Ave. NW and 802 7th St. NW (around the corner from the coming Potbelly and Cava Grill) respectively.
Last week we reported that &pizza would be coming to the Oxxo Cleaners space on Barracks Row at 405 8th Street, SE.
