733 10th Street, NW

Back in January we learned a new Japanese restaurant from the owners of Cafe Asia would be coming downtown to the new building by the MLK Library. They’ve now applied for a liquor license which says:

“Restaurant with Lounge, featuring Asian Food, Live Entertainment, Sidewalk Café
With #20 Seats, Total Occupancy Load #350

Hours of operation are listed as Sunday through Thursday: 8am-2am, Friday and Saturday: 8am-3am.

Grand opening anticipated for July 4, 2014.

So basically it is going to be a nightclub, like what the I Street Cafe Asia turned into.

Capacity for 350? That’s going to be a HUGE space.

Used to love the old Cafe Asia down on 19th Street near the Famous Luigi’s. Great for when you couldn’t make up your mind whether to get Thai or sushi, and you could get Thai iced tea with your noodles, yay! Hope it is a nice restaurant and not just a night spot.

There’s not a chance they could fit 350 people in that space if they were all standing. This is going to be interesting…
