From a press release:

“The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is pleased to announce the reopening of its Mezzanine Café in collaboration with Union Kitchen and DS Deli. Located on the museum’s Mezzanine level, at 1250 New York Avenue, NW, in Washington, D.C., the café will be open for weekday lunches 11 a.m.–2 p.m., beginning Nov. 17.

NMWA’s partnership with Union Kitchen—a business incubator that acts as a catalyst for the growth of small businesses, jobs and culture by lowering barriers to entry—will provide café visitors with creative and seasonal sandwiches, salads, coffee and Blind Dog Café baked goods. “FIESTA restaurant on Connecticut ave has closed last month & this Friday became an American bar & lounge called the Manor DC.”

Manor DC’s website says:

A Restaurant and Lounge by day that transforms to a modern, sleek nightclub by night. The Manor is the newest D.C. spot to enjoy lunch, delicious happy-hour specials and dinner later accompanied by your favorite beats and cocktails created by one of DC’s top Mixologists.”

When we learned about Due South, from the owner of Surfside, coming to Navy Yard there was another interesting detail buried at the end of the press release:

“In addition, 100 Montaditos will open in The Boilermaker Shops at The Yards in a few weeks”

Previously we had learned:

“100 Montaditos an exciting environment, tasting Spain’s famed Mahou beer or other typical thirst-quenchers, including red and white wines, claras (beer with lemon-lime soda) sangria (wine punch made with chopped fruit) and tintos de verano (red wine blended with lemon-lime soda).

The restaurant specializes in montaditos, crunchy Spanish rolls baked to order and jam-packed with traditional ingredients as Serrano ham, Spanish tortilla, chorizo sausage and Manchego cheese.

The number of seats is 74 and total load 74.”

I was starting to wonder if they were still coming – good to know the wait is almost over! You can see their menu here.

From an email:

Etto is finally opening at noon on weekends! Look forward to our new brunch options like house-made yogurt with granola, sandwiches (including a smoked salmon tartine), and a killer bacon and egg pizza (photo below).

We’ll be pulling espresso drinks all day long, and you can take your pick of joining us in our cozy dining room or al fresco on the new heated patio.

We’ll also serve a condensed version of our regular menu, and we’re not straying too far from our roots, so expect some great rise and shine cocktails–think Bloody Marys with…you guessed it! ANCHOVIES.”

Nonna’s Kitchen (above Alphonse Italian Market & Osteria) website says:

“Nonna’s Kitchen was created to invite our guests to feel like they are stepping right into the rustic kitchen of an Italian Grandmother. The cuisine will represent the different regions of Italy through Chef-inspired tasting menus, complete with wine pairings and suggested classic cocktail selections. The menu will change monthly. Adding to the at-home experience the guest will be able to watch their food be artfully crafted inside Nonna’s kitchen, where they will be encouraged to ask questions and become educated about the ingredients.

Nonna Hours:

Friday – Saturday 5:00 – 11:00”

I’m told they will be “offering 20% off while until the November 25th”. More details from their full press release:

“Henry’s Upstairs, the very same space where Roberta Flack got her start many moons ago, will be open to the public Mondays and Fridays at 5:00pm starting Friday 11/7/14.

Henry’s Upstairs will offer a distinctly different menu featuring New American Creations and light fare on Friday nights, while our famous 1/2 priced burgers will continue to be offered on Monday nights along with the regular menu. A late night happy hour will be added in the near future and we hope to round out the rest of the week as needs dictate. Live entertainment will return to the space on a nightly basis and it will also be available for private functions.”

From an email:

“Starting this Friday, the 7th of November, Compass Rose will begin serving late night khachapuris on Friday and Saturday nights. Our kitchen normally closes at 11:00 but will stay open until 2:00am for making what has become our signature dish, Georgian khachapuri. The demand for the bread, cheese and egg dish after hours kept coming so we decided to make it happen. The dish that the Washington Post has called, Butter Pizza, will be the only menu item available after 11:00pm for now and only on Fridays and Saturdays. Of course the bar is open until 3:00am on both weekend nights.

Speaking of the bar….. We are excited to announce that Jack Caminos has decided to come on board as our beverage director! Jack is a legend. A consummate barman. Formally of Blackjack and Brixton, Jack will be bartending at Compass Rose four nights a week. His new cocktail program will begin on Wednesday of next week (11/12/14).”
