Update: “@PoPville For all those wondering, we are open for service as usual today! Come on in and see us!”

A reader reports:

“Don’t know if you heard about this already, but I called 911 this a.m. because Table’s fire alarms were going off (on 9th and N St NW) and water was leaking through the windows.

Turns out someone left the tap running and the restaurant flooded. This was at 6:45 a.m. or so — the fire department showed up promptly and were super cooperative. Don’t know if they’re going to be closed for a while…”

From a press release:

“On the heels of a multi-million dollar investment announcement and national expansion news, Cava Grill is thrilled to announce the opening of a new location in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, at 8515 Fenton St. Bringing its loved modern Mediterranean flavors and fresh-casual concept to more Montgomery County residents, Cava Grill’s Silver Spring restaurant is slated for an early 2016 opening.

Cava Grill’s Silver Spring outpost will add a fresh dining option to the downtown area, conveniently located near several entertainment venues such as the Fillmore, AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center and Regal Cinemas Majestic 20 & IMAX, as well as other area destinations like the City Place Mall and Veterans Plaza.

The new location will feature an expanded open-kitchen layout; local beer and wine on tap; new menu items including seasonal vegetables roasted in Cava’s new stone-fired ovens, and rotating seasonal soups, juices, and teas made in-house daily; deeper relationships with local partners like Whisked!, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, and RunningByrd Tea; and additional community initiatives representative of Cava’s commitment to innovation, evolution, and attentiveness within fast-casual dining.

Keeping with Cava Grill’s opening traditions, the public will be invited to celebrate the new location with a Community Day, where lunch and dinner (rice bowls, salads, pitas) are free, with an encouraged donation to their local non-profit partner, City Blossoms, which champions healthy eating in the DC community. That date will be announced closer to the opening.

Cava Grill’s new Silver Spring outpost will be located at 8515 Fenton St., Silver Spring, MD”

Instead of offering big prix fixe options Dacha now offers a la card brunch with $10 to $17 dishes with tax included. Bottomless Mimosas will remain at $15 with tax also included.

Dacha Brunch is on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am till 2pm.”

From an email:

“In addition to our new bar and bar food program (The Drinkubator), I’m excited to let you know that our food incubator and pop-uppery EatsPlace is hosting Kalye (Filipino food) on Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13, from 6-11pm, The pop-up was originally scheduled for only June 12th, which coincides with Philippines Independence Day, but due to overwhelming demand, it has been extended.  Reservations are encouraged, but walk ins are welcome.

Kalye literally means street. And the masterminds of Kalye, Chefs Red Garcia and Santiago Cardenas, want to bring street food from the Philippines to Washington, DC. Red and Santi want to introduce Filipino cuisine to the DC Metro area with adidas (sous vide chicken feet), betamax (grilled pork blood), balut (fertilized duck egg), walkman (barbequed pork ears), crispy patata, and grilled pork sisig. I will be the guest chef on Saturday and am honored to work closely with Chefs Red and Santi.
I have created The Drinkubator cocktails just for this pop-up, like the Guapo Apo (vodka, cane syrup and muddled citrus topped with a shaved ice summit and tropical fruit puree is a tribute to the tallest mountain in the Philippines) and the Manila Punch (our take in the navy grog with rum and coconut water). Filipino beer like Red Horse and San Miguel Light will also be available.”
Menu after the jump.
