“At long last, we’re thrilled to announce Milk Bar is now open at CityCenterDC, (1090 I Street NW, Washington, D.C.)! Chef/founder & owner, Christina Tosi, couldn’t be more excited to officially open her first Milk Bar in the thriving neighborhood so close to her hometown! Milk Bar at CityCenterDC is also debuting a line of fresh and bright parfaits, exclusive to the location, as well as our Milk Bar Blend hot coffee. Both perfect for a grab-and-go breakfast, or afternoon snack! And on Momofuku’s status – Washington Post with the good word:

“Momofuku’s opening date is imminent but remains fluid.

Chang is not comfortable giving out an exact opening date until the menu and the kitchen crew come together to his satisfaction. Stay tuned.”

Do you guys think Milk Bar will crush RareSweets or is there hunger enough for both at CityCenter?

From an email:

“My husband and I (also residents of Edgewood) have a start-up stromboli business called STUFF’t and are taking over the kitchen at The Dew Drop Saturday from 3:00 p.m to close.

A little about STUFF’t: We are a new, local start-up based out ofMess Hall in Edgewood. Our goal is to provide a modern and delicious take on the traditional Italian stromboli. Our ‘strombolis’ are made with homemade pizza dough, ‘stuff’t’ with a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables and baked to crispy perfection. We are very excited to feature 4 varieties at the Dew Drop Inn: pepperoni & cheese; fresh & sundried tomatoes, basil and cheese; meatloaf & mashed potatoes; and chicken & waffles. ”

From a press release:

“James Beard finalist and former chef of Big Bear Café Quinten Frye envisioned the perfect family meal with farm-fresh ingredients—bringing people together to enjoy great food, perfect wine and libation pairings and the camaraderie of the dining experience. This vision is realized in his newest project, R & D Supper Club. The supper club will be a pop up at various locations throughout the DMV.

The premiere R & D Supper Club will take place on Sunday, November 8 and Monday, November 9 at 6:30 pm at DGS Delicatessen, 1317 Connecticut Avenue NW in DC’s Dupont Circle neighborhood. The premiere meal will include fresh oysters, sopes, empanadas, stone crab aqua chile, pheasant, cabrito, and dessert, from local farms including Earth and Eats, Reids Orchard, Le Bocage Farms, Trickling Springs, Grassy Meadow Farm, Happy Valley Meat Company, plus matching spirits for a price of $125—all inclusive.

The artistry isn’t just on the plate, it is the plate (and glassware). The meals will be served on custom made plates and glassware by local artisans. Custom made hand-blown glasses by JJ Vanlandingham and ceramics tableware by Ryan McDonnell.
