delivery

“Dear PoPville,

I was recently talking with some friends in San Francisco about all these start ups that deliver food quickly and realized DC has a real shortage of food delivery options compared to other major cities. There are a few restaurants that deliver, and a few services that provide for multiple restaurants but the selections are limited and always changing.

Could you ask the community, what do they recommend for the best restaurant delivery? Are there particular restaurants or apps that they’ve found reliable for delivery inside DC?”

The liquor license placard for the hotly anticipated Nobu has now been posted:

“First class, high quality, full-service “Nobu” restaurant, including a full-service bar, take-out service, and private events. An innovative new style of Japanese cuisine. Live entertainment during private events. Number of seats inside premises is 345. Total Occupancy Load is 370. Summer Garden with 40 seats.”

Back in July we learned “Greg Engert, Beer Director for Neighborhood Restaurant Group, announces the opening of The Sovereign, a bar and bistro located at 1206 Wisconsin Ave NW (at the end of the alley at M St. NW & Wisconsin Ave. NW).”

They’re now hiring:

“The Sovereign – the latest project from the Neighborhood Restaurant Group – is a forthcoming Belgian bar and bistro committed to celebrating the rustic cuisine and fabled brewing culture of Belgium.

We are now hiring for all positions: Servers, Bartenders, Support (Food Runners and Bussers), Hosts, Cooks.

The two-story bar and bistro will open in late 2015.”

upper crust
1301 U Street, NW

Thanks to a tipster for sending word that Upper Crust Pizzeria is coming to 1301 U Street, NW in the former U Sushi space which moved inside neighboring Sala Thai back in July. Upper Crust Pizzeria briefly had a downtown location but closed after a year due to some bankruptcy issues. Apparently that’s been worked out – their website says:

“Since its inception in 2001, The Upper Crust Pizzeria has been serving award-winning pizza to Boston-area residents craving something delicious and extraordinary. In January 2013, new owners and management expanded upon the original concept: use fresh ingredients in traditional and unexpected ways on top of a flavorful crust. The menu has grown from classic combos to more unique and daring pairings, including pizzas like The Uncommon, The Fenway, Cameron’s BBQ and more. Any pizza can be made white (without tomato sauce) or red (without cheese) and is available on our traditional, whole wheat or gluten-free crust.

From our original storefront on Beacon Hill’s historic Charles Street, to any of our other metro area and suburban locations, customers can grab takeout, get delivery or choose to dine in. Our award-winning architectural spaces include open kitchens, pizza pan-decorated ceilings and high-definition flat screens, all adding up to deliver a truly unique experience that can only be described as Upper Crust.”

You can see their menu here.
