“The DC Public Library has selected DC Central Kitchen, in partnership with Occasions Catering and Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup, to provide food and catering services for the modernized Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. As part of managing the building’s café, meeting and special event spaces, the group will offer District residents hospitality-sector apprenticeship opportunities.

The $211 million Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library modernization added two new spaces: a 4,300 sq. ft. ground-level café connected to a new outdoor garden space and a new fifth floor that features a 14,900-square-foot rooftop, event space and catering kitchen. (more…)

“Hook Hall, Park View’s massive bar and event space, has been transformed into a Viking Village and reopens this weekend with themed “huts”, rows of firepit and a Viking-inspired menu and cocktails.

The summer’s “cabanas” have turned into cozy spaces with firepits, sectional lounge seating and blankets. Additional huts have been added to Hook Hall’s backyard along with 16 fire pitted seating areas in the center of the yard. (more…)

15th and P Street, NW

Laura Hayes reported yesterday:

“A rep from @PhillipsSeafood just confirmed that the 14th & P Street NW location has closed due to the pandemic. Same for sister restaurant Street Carts. This is the space that used to be Tortilla Coast.”

Phillips Seafood and Street Carts opened here (15th and P) in June 2019. Tortilla Coast closed here back in 2017. Prior to Tortilla Coast this prime space was home to McCormick Paints. Updates as we learn more.
