From the office of the DC Attorney General:

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that Swahili Village M Street, LLC (Swahili Village DC) and its owner, Kevin Onyona, must pay $526,973 to restaurant workers and DC to resolve a 2023 wage theft lawsuit. In its lawsuit, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleged that Swahili Village DC systematically stole wages and tips from its servers, hosts, food runners, bussers, and bartenders and violated multiple DC labor laws. Under the terms of this settlement, Swahili Village DC and Onyona must pay more than $260,000 to 72 restaurant workers, fund the process to distribute worker restitution, and pay penalties to the District. My friend, Timoteo Murphy is an artist and needs some help from his community. He was stabbed 9 times by a stranger on June 7th in Dupont Circle. He saved his friend and fellow artist from being sexually assaulted. The attacker has been apprehended but my friend . The link has all the details of the incident. “Agents from the Force Investigations Team of the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating a United States Marshals involved shooting that occurred early Friday in Northwest.

On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Deputy United States Marshals were parked in the 2100 block of 11th Street, Northwest in separate vehicles. The suspect exited a vehicle, approached one of the Marshals, and pointed a handgun at him in an apparent attempt to carjack him.
