A reader reports:

“Came out to a bullet hole in my windshield and the .45 cal bullet sitting neatly implanted in my dash board on the corner of 15th and Harvard this morning.

From the impact angle on the dash and condition of the bullet looks like this was a stray bullet shot in the air that happened to land on my car. Went out to my car at 11pm last night and it was fine then, but when I came out at 7 am this morning I found the bullet on the dash so happened sometime overnight. ”

scam alert
Photo by PoPville flickr user nevermindtheend

From DC Courts:

“The DC Courts want to warn members of the public not to be taken-in by a telephone scam in which they get a voicemail asking them to call a 1-844 telephone number about money they owe on an outstanding court matter, and to push 5 to make payment and resolve the matter. What differentiates these calls from other scams is that the caller ID system has been manipulated and shows a DC Court-issued telephone number on the caller ID display. Please be advised that the District of Columbia Courts never solicit payments via telephone. All official court correspondence is processed through the U.S. Postal Service. The public is advised not to respond to these telephone calls.

Nicole reports:

“Your latest reminder that people suck. Graffiti at Kogod Liquors.”

Kogod Liquors and Deli Facebook says:

“A D.C. institution since 1946. Best variety of wine, whiskey and liquors in the District. Fantastic sandwiches, fries and rice bowls.”

In the spirit of #standingwithcomet – let us also #standwithkogod and buy lots of liquors!! Seriously, this is outrageous and we in the District know that love trumps hate. Let us smash hate with record liquor sales for Kogod.

Update from Kogod owners:

“Hello, this is Kogod Liquors & Deli. We have been in operation at our location at 441 New Jersey Avenue NW since 1946, just steps away from the U.S. Capitol. The current owners of Kogod have been operating the store for 20 years, since 1997.

This morning, we came to work to find a racist graffiti on our wall, reported below. While we are proud to be Korean Americans, we have made Washington D.C. our home for decades, and we do not plan on going anywhere else. It is sad to find out that there are people who thought otherwise. (more…)
