“Not seeing this yet on the MPD twitter, but last night around 11pm I heard about 7-10 gunshots in the 200 block of Q Street, NW. MPD arrived promptly, swept the area, found casings through the street.

“At approximately 1:15 PM this afternoon, First District units responded for the sounds of gunshots in the 1300 block of D Street, NE. Upon arrival, an adult male victim was found suffering from one or more gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed, and he was pronounced deceased.

This case is being investigated by members of MPD’s Homicide Branch. If anyone has any information relating to this crime, please contact MPD at 202-727-9099. You can also text information to MPD by sending a text message to 50411.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 10:37 pm, members of the Sixth District were flagged down at the listed location for a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 53 year-old Curtis Barnum, of Southeast, DC. (more…)

Leaving after Colliding Hit & Run – Pedestrian, 5300 b/o Georgia Ave NW, CCN 174-040

On October 13, at approximately 11:30pm, the Victim was in the crosswalk crossing over Georgia Avenue NW when he was struck by a vehicle, which continued southbound on Georgia Ave at a high rate of speed. The Victim sustained a broken leg and a laceration to the head, and was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Based on the vehicle parts left behind on scene, the vehicle is believed to be a Nissan Xterra pickup truck, model year between 2002-2004.

K reported around 10pm Saturday night:

“2 shots heard and a guy running down 5th towards Kennedy St. Police are here.”

MPD reported:

“Shooting at 2143 hrs in the 5500 block of 5th Street, NW. No Lookout.”

Update from MPD:

“On October 14, 2018 at approximately 9:40pm, an unknown Suspect fired two rounds at the Victim from a passing vehicle. As a result, the Victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left chest. The Victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in serious but stable condition. The shooting appears to have escalated from a previous argument. No usable lookout at this time.

Around the same time we received multiple reports of loud booms, “canons”, fireworks etc a bit further south in Petworth/Columbia Heights.

Sunday morning E confirmed:

“I thought the 13th and Randolph incident was fireworks but found a bullet next to my car this morning on 13th street

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Sunday, October 14, 2018, in the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast.

At approximately 3:00 am, the suspect was posing as a driver of a vehicle for hire. The male victim entered the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect stopped the vehicle at the listed location and sexually assaulted the victim. (more…)

ZIP YOUR BAGS – Pick Pocketed at Dinner at Taco Bamba 777 Eye Street NW

Last night I met a friend at Taco Bamba at 6:15pm, by 730ish I could not find my wallet to pay for my dinner, and a subsequent check of my accounts showed all my credit cards purchased Metrocards at the Mount Vernon Metro stop around 6:28pm at the values of $103 and $104.

My bag was a tote with no zipper – warning to all ladies – ONLY use a bag that you can zip and zip it closed in public.

DC Police took the report and want to claim it as as “lost property” since I did not see someone take it despite knowing I had my wallet moments earlier and went from work a few blocks away. (more…)
