Daytime Shooting in Park View Monday; Shooting in LeDroit Park just before Midnight

Parker reported:

“Eddie Leonard’s was open. The police tape was wrapped around it but allowed for an entrance. The other storefronts next to it (including the market) seemed blocked off.”

From MPD at 12:22pm Monday:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Pedestrians and motorists can expect road closures in the area.

5:45pm Shooting in Kingman Park, 2 Guns Recovered; Double Shooting in Columbia Heights; Shots Fired on U Street, Gun Recovered, Arrest Made

“On Friday, October 5th, 2018, at approximately 5:45 PM, Fifth District Officers received a call for the sound of gunshots near 15th and D Streets, NE. Officers responded to the location and located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical assistance was requested, and the victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Two (2) individuals have been detained in reference to this shooting, and two (2) firearms have been recovered.

From MPD around 3am:

“The Third District Detective’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, NW. Third District patrol units responded to the area to investigate the sound of gunshots. Officers found two victims, both suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)

From Metro Transit Police around 1pm:

“SUSPECT: This is the individual in the area of Navy Yard Station who is considered a person of interest in a stabbing that just occurred. Red hair, red pants. May have CUT himself during the incident. CALL 911 IF SEEN. DO NOT TAKE ACTION OTHER THAN CALLING POLICE.”

“Navy Yard additional: Incident occurred aboard a camera-equipped Green Line train traveling in the direction of Branch Ave. Prelim ID on victim is adult male, believed to be known to suspect. Suspect ran out of Navy Yard Station e/b out the New Jersey Ave exit toward CVS.”

“Navy Yard (update): Trains are now servicing the station, single tracking continues.”

Alan Henney reported:

“update: CRITICAL METRO STABBING- teenage male with slashed throat bleeding heavily, will be taken to trauma center shortly. Stabbing happened in Metro subway car currently at Navy Yard. Suspect fled out the station, possibly getting into an Uber.”

“The cabdriver still had at least an arm in the window and was dragged backwards and eventually fell on the street.”

1800 block of 1st Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I think there was a carjacking of a cab in Bloomingdale last night right at the busy intersection of 1st and Rhode Island NW. It happened in front of the bikeshare/liquor store/Thai place on 1st, around 7:30pm.

I had headphones in, but I heard shouting and noticed an altercation happening in a cab as it rolled forward. It seemed like the cabdriver was on the outside of the cab and there was a person inside trying to get in the driver seat, possibly from the back or the passenger seat. The driverside window was down and the cabdriver was reaching in physically fighting the person inside as the car rolled forward and smashed into a parked car. At that point, the person on the inside threw the car in reverse. The cabdriver still had at least an arm in the window and was dragged backwards and eventually fell on the street. “MPD is seeking assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to Assault w/ a Dangerous Weapon (Hammer) offense that occurred on 10/4/18 in the 1500 block of 14th Street. NW. Recognize this person or have info? Please call 202-727-9099/text 50411.”

“the police officer I spoke to today did confirm that they’ve seen an increase in this type of crime in the area, though he didn’t have any explanations as to why.”

My car has been broken into twice recently – once in mid-July, and once this week, all around the intersection of 12th/South Carolina/C Sts SE. The first time we were just a part of a larger rash of break-ins with broken windows; at least three cars on South Carolina and two on C all got hit in the same time frame. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Sometime Saturday afternoon our house in Eckington was burglarized. An HP laptop, Acer aspire laptop, nikon d7100 camera and 2 lenses, plus iPad mini stolen. What’s most disturbing is that we were likely home when it happened- we batten down the hatches when leaving the house and there were no signs or evidence of a break in, just noticed that all my electronics in that room had vanished.
