“Heard 10 gunshots at about 8:20pm. was on the corner of Columbia rd and 14th and the shots sounded close. People ran out of Apt complex. cops swarmed 2 min later.”
MPD reported:
“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower extremities.
Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”
Thanks to a reader for sending this “Doug the Scammer” update:
“He showed up to court, realized the Kapnos Kouzina witnesses were there (myself and a former colleage present the day of the robbery), then left the court room without appearing in front of the judge. There is currently a bench warrant status for him. So if anyone sees him in the city they should report his whereabouts immediately to authorities. Justice will have to live another day!”

No matter how small, please report package thefts to the police. I caught this individual trying to gain access to our building after successfully stealing packages the previous night. He had the nerve to show up in the exact same clothing. The police said they couldn’t do anything because a previous report hadn’t been made. “First District Detectives are currently investigating an Unarmed Carjacking which occurred in a rear parking lot in the 1300 Block E Street SE at approximately 8:00 PM Tuesday evening.
A female complainant reported that while removing items from her parked vehicle, a male subject approached from behind and pushed her to the ground. The subject picked up a set of keys dropped by the complainant, started the complainant’s car and drove southbound on 13th Street SE. The complainant sustained a minor injury and was evaluated on scene by DCFEMS Ambulance. (more…)

“Fifth District detectives are investigating an assault that took place in the 1100 block of Orren Street, NE at approximately 4:30pm this afternoon. The victim reported standing at the bus stop when he was approached by an unknown black male and struck in the head with a pipe. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, and the suspect made good his escape. Anyone with information related to this offense is encouraged to call MPD at 202-727-9099, or text the information to 5-0-4-1-1.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a Second Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Saturday, December 1, 2018, in the 1200 block of 33rd Street, Northwest.
At approximately 12:02 am, the victim was receiving a ride in the suspect’s rideshare vehicle. During the ride, the suspect engaged in sexual contact without the victim’s permission.
The suspect is described as a White male, and was last seen driving a black SUV vehicle.
Anyone who can identify this individual or who has knowledge of these incidents should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, December 2, 2018, in the 600 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 10:50 am, the suspect entered an establishment at the listed location. Once inside of the establishment, the suspect approached a cashier and demanded US currency. The suspect then brandished a handgun and a struggle ensured. During the struggle, the suspect discharged the weapon striking the victim. (more…)

“My husband was at the Le Droit park with our daughter and there was a shooting which my daughter witnessed. There was also a kid party underway. Everyone had to duck and hide.“
