UPDATE: Homicide. Daytime Shooting on North Capitol

UPDATE from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in the 1200 Block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.

At approximately 2:59 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. (more…)

“Actually just heard back from leasing office. It’s a mentally unstable woman who refuses to leave. Police said they aren’t using forced entry yet. Residents are allowed to enter and leave through the back door. No word about entry/exit for residents on 8th floor.”

Triple Shooting Saturday Afternoon, One Victim Killed

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Benning Road, NE at approximately 2:00 pm this afternoon. Three individuals sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident, and were transported from the scene to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Unfortunately, one of the individuals later expired at the hospital. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to call MPD at 202-727-9099, or text the information to 5-0-4-1-1.”

“Earlier tonight [Friday], an adult male and an adult female were injured in a shooting that is believed to have taken place in the area around the 5000 block of 6th Place, NE. The both victims received non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Fourth District are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 202.727.9099 or text 50411.”

“At approximately 4:51 pm, the suspect used a cell phone to record underneath a female victim’s skirt at the listed location.”

Vehicle sought “in a Hit-and-Run with Injuries” Victim riding bicycle in the 1800 block of Montana Avenue, NE; Mount Pleasant Crime Query

“Investigators with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, January 5, 2019, in the 1800 block of Montana Avenue, Northeast.

According to the preliminary investigation, at approximately 4:53 pm, the victim was traveling southbound on his bicycle at the listed location. The victim was struck by a vehicle that was traveling on Montana Avenue, Northeast. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene.

The vehicle of interest was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in this video above.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.”

Two Early Evening Assaults/Muggings on Women in Capitol Hill and U Street

“The First District is currently investigating an incident that took place in the area of the 700 block of 7th Street SE which took place this evening [Wednesday] between 6:00pm and 6:15pm. A victim, of what we believe to have been an assault, woke up on the ground and realized that her purse was missing. However, she is unable to remember what happened. Her property was later recovered a short distance away.

“Sharing the unfortunate news that a young woman was violently mugged by two assailants on our street this evening between 6:14-6:20pm in front of the 1300 block of Wallach Place.

“The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those involved in a tragic case of alleged animal cruelty. On Friday, January 4, HRA received a call about a dog who had been abandoned at Skip’s Liquor Store and Laundromat in NE: the dog had significant injuries to all four legs. Surveillance video (seen here) reviewed by HRA experts shows a man hitting the dog, possibly with an object, and then dragging her away from his vehicle before driving off. (more…)

“Shooting at 0700 hrs in the 300 block of Evarts Street, NE. Lookout for a B/M, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, L/S in a red Corvette, armed with a handgun.”

“Fifth District patrol units and detectives are investigating an Assault with the intent to Kill which on January 10, 2019, at approximately 07:00 AM in the 2600 block 3rd Street NE. The subject is described as a Black male, approximately 6′- 0”, hooded dark colored jacket. The subject fired multiple rounds striking a vehicle and the victim. The victim was struck in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. “MTPD arrested Leon Quarles, 23, of Washington, DC, on charges of felony assault following a violent and unprovoked attack on two innocent Metro customers at Navy Yard Station yesterday evening.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, MTPD officers received a priority call for an assault in progress at the station. Upon arrival, officers found two victims — a 59-year-old female and a 39-year-old male – who had been attacked by the suspect. Officers were able to apprehend the resisting and non-compliant suspect on scene. (more…)
