A reader reported around 11pm:
“Shots fired behind the 1900 block of 13th Street, NW. Police are looking for bullet casings right now.”
MPD tells me that this occurred in the alley of the 1200 block of T Street, NW. After a call of the sounds of shots fired were made an MPD officer witnessed the subject toss the gun and “was placed under arrest for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the rear of the 1300 block of Monroe Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units–such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)–who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, February 18, 2019, through Monday, February 25, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 33 firearms in the District of Columbia.

“Shooting on Quincy and Kansas Ave, NW. 4 shots – no fatalities. One of the two guys shooting at each other was shot (not sure where or how bad) but he also ran away. A bystander right next to them – like 6 feet from the shooting – got terrified and had a meltdown – called the cops who are in scene now.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in locating three suspects in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, January 27, 2019, in the 800 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 12:07 am, the victim and the suspect were engaged in a verbal dispute, inside of an establishment, at the listed location. During the dispute, the suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. The second suspect assaulted the victim. The third suspect recovered the handgun that was used during the offense. The suspects then fled the scene. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. (more…)

“At about 7:45 PM this evening there was a Robbery in the 700 block of Kentucky Ave. SE. The Victim was walking in the block when he was approached from behind and ‘bearhugged’ by the Suspect who demanded his property. The Victim handed over certain items of property and the Suspect fled. There was no injury to the Victim.
The lookout for the Suspect is black male, about 6′ in height, athletic build, wearing a dark jacket with a hood and a black mask covering his lower face.
The First District’s detectives office is actively investigating this matter. Anyone with any pertinent information is asked to call the Tip-Line at 202-727-9099.”

“On Saturday February 23, 2019 At approximately 4:10PM the Fourth District received multiple calls from citizens that they heard sounds of gunshots coming from around the 400 block of Delafield Pl NW. Multiple units began to canvass the area and located one shell casing in the 400 block of Delafield Pl NW and 5 shell casings in the 300 block of Delafield Pl NW. The units canvassed the adjacent streets and alleys in the area and no one was injured and no property damage occurred. Any information on this incident please contact 2027279099.”

“Last night a fight broke out at Safari DC on the 4300 block of Georgia Avenue. A shooting occurred on the sidewalk. 1 person is deceased and another is in critical condition. At this time no suspects have been caught. Police are investigating.”

“What I’m hearing is: Several musicians who were in a contest got in a fight with the DJ. It spilled outside to the street and someone was shot and killed. Three shots, 10 second pause, two more rang out loudly and clearly.”

The victim, an adult male, sustained a single gunshot wound to the right leg and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
