That number may increase as we continue our investigation. You may have noticed a maintained presence through the early morning areas as we canvassed the area to ensure there was no further risk to the public. I inquired if shots were fired and was told:
“We have reports that a suspects weapon was discharged, however we will not be able to say conclusively until the Department of Forensic Sciences conducts a full examination on the weapon. An officers firearm was discharged, however the round did not strike anyone and the circumstances under which the officers firearm was discharged are also under investigation.”

It’s been awhile since we had an update on the NoMa flasher. Well, he’s back, this time on L Street NE. Same description of the guy as previous posts. Today, he was on L Street near 4th Street NE also around 8:15am and started to put his hands down his pants before I yelled at him again.
I’ve called MPD about these two incidents. (more…)
“I was in the middle of the crossfire with my 21 month old daughter at the time when this happened. We were driving to Walmart on Georgia I slowed down at the intersection of 5th and Kennedy to ensure no one was crossing the street. I heard gunshots and saw people ducking and running. I have never felt or seen anything like that before in my life.”
“I was home at the time with my 5 year old daughter who was too sick to go to school today. I heard the shots and immediately got her and myself on the ground. She couldn’t understand what was happening.”
“The fact that we have to explain to our kids that this just a normal thing is INSANE!! The police do walk the area, they do patrol Kennedy, this is not on them. There needs to be more done, and please lets not have another safety walk.”
