“Just before 3:30 am yesterday (Sunday) an incident near 6th and E NE drew a substantial police response. I believe 7 or 8 shots were fired in quick succession. Photo of the scene from 3:33 am. I saw no ambulance, so I assume no casualties. It did appear that a man was in custody.”
MPD responds to me via email: “nothing in our system that indicates there were shots fired”. Did anyone else hear shots fired?
“Officers received a call for a report of an assault that took place yesterday Saturday, April 20, 2019, around 3 pm in the area of the waterfront metro station. The victim states he was struck in the face several times by two suspects. During the altercation, the victim’s phone fell from his possession and slid across the ground. After the assault was over he realized that his phone was gone. The suspects were last seen heading Eastbound on M ST SW. There is currently no lookout for the suspects.

“On Saturday, April 20, 2019, at approximately 6:58 pm, Fifth District members responded to the 600 block of Girard Street, NE for a shooting.
An adult male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Through excellent investigative work, partnered with great assistance from the community, a suspect was located and placed under arrest for the offense.
This is a shining example of how community partnerships are an integral part of police work.”
Just so we all know a bit more about @darsal: he loved a good beer, was a connoisseur of great music, had a wry sense of humor, and an understanding shoulder when things weren’t going well. He would make you smile, even when life was shit. He wasn’t just a “bike guy."
“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Friday, April 19, 2019, in the intersection of 12th Street and Florida Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., an automated license plate reader alerted that there was a stolen white van in the area of Benning Road, NE. Metropolitan Police Department Fifth District officers saw the stolen van near the area of Benning Road and Florida Ave, NE and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop for the officers and fled the area. A short time later, officers from the Fifth District discovered the driver of the stolen van was involved in a traffic crash at the intersection of 12th Street and Florida Avenue, NE. The preliminary investigation into this crash revealed that the driver of the stolen van was speeding, while traveling westbound on Florida Avenue NE.(more…)
“On April 19, 2019, at approximately 5:26 pm, multiple gunshots was reported in the 600 block of Ingraham Street NW. MPD officers canvassed the area and located a five shell casings. There were no reports of injury or damage.

“On Friday, April 18th at approximately 4:04pm the Fourth District Police Department responded to the scene of a confirmed Shooting in the 700 Block of Princeton Place NW. A juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body was discovered. The victim was unconscious and not breathing. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to their injuries. Lookout is for B/M 24-25 black mask, black jacket.
